Artwork Information

Big art is better art. Larger images produce higher quality products.

Be sure to proof your art at actual coin size. Things look very different when you
shrink them down. If you can read a word in print, you can read it on a coin.

Many images found on the Internet lack the quality and detail needed to engrave
high quality dies. A small .jpg image may need to be cleaned up to make it acceptable
for us to use. Cleanup is billed at our hourly rate. Poor quality equals more cleanup &
higher cost.

Electronic art files should be 300 DPI (dots per inch) or more. Adobe Illustrator is the
best format, but no placed images please.

Osborne is PC based so font handling is different than in the Mac environment. To avoid
font issues, all vector art must be converted to outlines.

While we can open most formats, Quark, MS Word or other word processor files are not appropriate for quality dies.

Do not compress images (zip, arc, sit, etc.), as it can create artifacts and data errors.

Coins, Key Tags, Medallions and Medals

All artwork shown in black will be raised on the coin. Half tones and shading cannot be reproduced on a coin and should be eliminated.

For busts and detailed buildings, our engravers require line art as well as a photograph for reference.

Please proof all artwork carefully. Changes made after a die is started may require
engraving a complete new die at the customer's expense.
